As we have done most every year, we went to the Stampede Kids Day this year. If you come before 9:00 am you get free admission and a pancake breakfast to eat while you watch a show in the grandstands. This year, we got doused by a heavy downpour of rain right after the breakfast, and although we charged our strollers through deep puddles to get to the SuperDogs show, we had been beaten to the mark by the masses and had to settle for a tour of a 5th wheel trailer until the Ice Show could start. To be fair, it was a really nice trailer.
Katie just loves, loves, LOVES animals and she was super-excited to visit them all in the Aggie Tent. She got to touch some live animals and some not-so-live animals (ie: grooming this pretend-pony).
Scott likes animals, but he likes them best from a distance. But when it came to tanks and rocket launchers, he and his sidekick Ty were very hand-on. The connection between a tank and the Stampede might be difficult to comprehend, until you realize that tanks are included in "armoured cavalry" units in today's army and they are really just modern horses. In fact, it is only a matter of time before they are used in the rodeo.
