Thar She Blows! ... in Bowness

As he stood hovering over you half suspended in air, so wildly and eagerly peering towards the horizon, you would have thought him some prophet or seer beholding the shadows of Fate, and by those wild cries announcing their coming.

"There she blows! there! there! there! she blows! she blows!"
"Where-away?"
"On the lee-beam, about two miles off! a school of them!"

Instantly all was commotion.
-- Chapter 47, Moby Dick

With one mom at Girls Camp and the other out running errands, Luke and I combined for Daddy Duty one evening, and ended up at Bowness Park with the kids (minus Baby A, who was with Grandma). On a whim, we commissioned a 4-seater pedal-boat for the 6 of us and set out on the water. The kids weren't much help in pedaling, and their skills at the rudder weren't much better.

Katie seemed to enjoy the experience at first, until we strayed downwind of the fountain's spray and then she got pretty weepy. Fortunately, that was near the tail-end of our 1/2-hour voyage and we were able to distract her with the baby ducks until we could reach the docks.
