District: A Bucket of Bacon

There was a guy up visiting from the Houston office so I arranged to take him for that Canadian classic: Poutine. Apparently, the restaurant called District is supposed to be one of the best places for Poutine in the city, so we went there.

Our group started off with an appetizer called Bucket o' Bacon, which was exactly as it sounds. Each bucket had several strips of bacon (cured in-house) and a little dipping cup of maple syrup. It was actually pretty amazing.

We each ordered a poutine (fries, cheese curds, gravy) along with customizable toppings. I had a fried egg on mine, but the guy from Houston had jalapenos, ground beef and a fried egg on his. He said it was pretty amazing. Personally, I've had much better poutine before. Ours seemed like it sat on the counter for several minutes before our server got around to delivering it, so it the curds were totally melted and the fries were getting a bit soggy. Still, any day with poutine in it is a good day -- in my opinion -- and we got some cool pictures.
