First Real Food

Friday Scott tried his first "real food" (rice cereal). He was pretty keen to stick the spoon in his mouth (he's keen to stick ANYTHING in his mouth), but he wasn't so sure what he'd got himself into.

I think he ended up with more of it on his bib than in his mouth, which is his way of taking it easy his first time out. When he stopped opening his mouth to take the spoon, we figured he'd had enough.

On the other hand, it seems that he can never get enough of this particular toy, which is attached to his exersaucer. I think he could get the whole thing in his mouth if he would really put his mind to it. He's gotten pretty close.

Oh, my...he is hitting the big time--real food. Wait until he discovers fruit--that was a real lip smacker for you kids--especially strained bananas and peaches! YUM !

Aden pretty much spit all food first given to him out so I decided to wait as long as possible to feed Lincoln his first food but he watches us so much that one day about 2 weeks ago, I decided to just do it. He took the cereal so well that we've now added fruit and veggies. Hopefully this means he will be a good eater and not the picky eater we still struggle with sometimes with Aden. At any rate, it's always a messy adventure! Congrats Scott!

It seems like the biggest problem for babies is trying to figure out what the tongue is supposed to do since eating off a spoon is such a different process from sucking. I'm quite confident that he'll master it soon and be able to savor all the wondrous delights that rice cereal has to offer a discerning palate.

Fun fun. You may want to try laying out some cheerios for him in a few weeks. Its a hoot and they love em.
