Healthy: Code For Chubby

When people meet our baby Scott for the first time, frequently they say that he looks "healthy". By this they mean that he's a bit on the chubby side. He's got full, rosy cheeks. He's also got dimples in his elbows and his knees, and plenty of rolls on his legs and arms. From what we can tell, he's pretty average for height and weight, so he's hardly a monster. I guess he's just healthy-looking.

If a slightly chubby baby is "healthy", what do you call a really chubby baby?

I think you call a REALLY chubby baby huge.

I love baby rolls! It's sad when they start to go away when they become mobile and are actually burning calories.

So I found some adjectives in Roget's New Thesaurus... I think one of these could work for a really chubby/healthy baby...

able-bodied, active, all right, athletic, blooming, bright-eyed*, bushy-tailed*, chipper*, firm, fit, flourishing, fresh, hale, hardy, healthful, hearty, hunky-dory, husky, lively, lusty, muscular, normal, physically fit, potent, restored, robust, rosy-cheeked*, sound, stout, strong, sturdy, tough, trim, unimpaired, vigorous, virile, well, whole, wrapped tight..

I like hale & virile... maybe I should lookthe definitions up!

So I enjoy looking up words... who knew. I guess you don't have to speel to enjoy words and get a degree:)

Hale - free from disease or infirmity; robust; vigorous: hale and hearty men in the prime of life.

Virile - adjective

1. of, pertaining to, characteristic of, or befitting a man; masculine; manly: virile strength.

2. having or exhibiting masculine energy, forcefulness, or strength in a marked degree.

3. characterized by a vigorous, masculine spirit: a virile literary style.

4. of, pertaining to, or capable of procreation.

Well I think that we should go with hale since this virile definition was the only one that didn't expound on the male role as procreator. Sounds like a cool word but I think it has a PG-13 type rating!

Thanks for the research Marc. I think I prefer 'hale' as well.
