Upsetting The Prayer Balance

We say a number of prayers during the course of a day, so we devised a system.

On a typical weekday, there's at least the dinner prayer and the evening prayer before we go to bed (on weekends we're also together for breakfast and lunch prayers). On even days, R says the evening prayer and I say the dinner prayer. Odd days are the opposite, so I say the evening prayer. The way we remember it is that I am the "oddball". Laugh if you want. It is a convenient way to keep track.

The introduction of a third individual to our household will upset this system that has served us so well for more than six years of marriage. Fortunately, we don't have to change anything right away -- it will take a while before the baby is ready to take a spot in the prayer rotation. Hopefully, we'll come up with a simple solution by then. Something like this: D says the evening prayer on all multiples of three (3n), R gets 3n-1 and D junior gets days 3n-2.

Like I said, hopefully we'll come up with a simple solution by then.

So your system is simple compared to what -- quadratic equations?

So you think your child will be that disciplined? When your child learns to pray it will baby 10 times to mom and dad 1 and they'll say it even when you do too! (And it will be so cute!) Helen

Been spending some wonderful time with two new beautiful granddaughters! Initial stats were very close. Having had the same due date, Jan 5th, we had some friendly competition between them as to who would come first, earliest in the day, longest and heaviest. Lily Kate born the 2nd at 3:14 pm, 7#4oz, 20". Halle Marin born the 4th at 3:13 pm, 7#7oz, 19 1/2". Kena's child won 3 out of 4. With similar starts they are already taking off in their own directions and all comparisons will cease. They are both so precious in their own ways. Grandma will indulge only in getting pictures of them dressed in a few outfits alike! Getting two little girls after 2 boys I went balistic looking for outfits on the clearance racks that had two the same size. By the way, Jack Henry wasn't used by Jon & Elisabeth so Henry is still up for grabs. Catching up on the blog I too taped the Oprah show on baby cries. I took it down for Kena to listen to a couple of months ago but forgot to take it with me when Halle was born. All I could remember was "neh" and we did hear that occasionally. Mostly we could distinguish a definite "wah" which wasn't one on the list. The "wah" seemed to be associated with "feel sorry for me, I'm not getting exactly what I wanted" and would sometimes be accompanied with a pout. Go figure! As for a possible solution to the taking turns dilema, my kids fighting to be "first" ceased when I initiated a day for each of them to have their turn to be first at everything. Every third day was their day to be first at whatever or be their turn to do whatever. Solved a lot of fighting and whining about Jon always being faster and getting to the car first to call the front seat as his, etc!

Yeah, and more Yeahs!!! Just so prayers are said at your house it does not matter so much who prays the most!! Grandpa says it in the mornings and me in the evenings now as there are just the two of us. But if one is sick, hoarse, etc. etc. the other willingly takes up the slack!! "Prayer is the souls sincere desire!!" Just remember that. Love you!!
p. S. what is with the word verification? It always makes me enter twice, does it not think I can read/type???
