Back at Highland Manor

Our family loves to visit our cousins in Highland. It is great there for so many reasons. Here are just a few:

Super-fun playroom filled with cool toys, including a remote-controlled dog. Katie was talking about this dog non-stop the morning leading up to our visit. They kindly obliged her by topping it up with a fresh stack of batteries.

Fun cousins with endless patience for small kids. All four of their kids take turns playing with our little kids and helping to entertain them, even though they are all older than our kids by several years.

Food like crazy. Aunt Jamie understands food. It's hard to put into words, but she has an uncanny knack to provide that extra bit of variety or flavour to make foods seem extravagant and comfortable at the same time. And she does all this while chatting away casually in the kitchen with guests, like it's no big deal. She is great.

The deliciousness must run in the genes, because Aunica served up a mind-blowing chocolate mousse with whipped cream and strawberries that is my new benchmark for mousse.
